Looking Into Breeding

Hey guys ^^

I have owned ball pythons for a couple of years now, and have managed to acquire two adult pastels of good breeding weight. I would like to breed them, but am unsure of exactly where to start.
I've read up on the many 'guides' on the internet, but decided to come here.
Firstly, is it too late to introduce them? I know some guides say they let the pair breed between the beginning of march and the end of april (When the female usually becomes gravid) but was unsure of whether this timing is okay, or whether I should wait until next year.
So then, should I pair the two?

If you have an incubator and space for the babies you can really start whenever you want. This doesn't mean that the female will actually go though. Most people pair from Oct-Feb.

I paired my first female starting in May of last year and she didn't even start building until the winter.

Yeah, the Markus Jayne guide was one of the main ones I started looking at.
If I were to pair them now, and she were to grow gravid during the winter months, would it be safe for her to lay at that time? I do currently reside in Fl, so it doesn't get too cold, but I want to be sure anyways, as I would rather wait until next season than harm her.

No not at all. She would be fine. People have snakes that lay all at different times of the year. Some lay as early as December. Some late ones don't lay until august.

I would suggest you wait until next season. If you are wanting to do it as a hobby, a year wait is not going to hurt.

reason being, you need to find out as much information about breeding pythons as possible,
before you jump head first. Going in blind, can become overwhelming.

I do not know your situation, but breeding can be expensive, if interested in doing it right.


in the end, i would say wait and absorb as much information as possible!

i have 2 season, before I can attempt to breed. By then, I will have a Hot Box, and a hatchling/juvenile rack.
