Adopted an underweight young snake, Feeding question

Hello! So I adopted a 2 year old male ball python from a animal shelter, they were not really equipped to care for him, he was 84 grams when i got him, it has now been about 8 months and he weighs 288 grams and is eating like a champ!! I am now feeding him thawed mice once a week. We worked our way up from tube feeding at the veterinarians, to pinkys to where we are now! I am unsure if I should be feeding him less? Some people have told me at this age he should be weighing more then that and I should still be feeding him weekly. Other say I am over feeding him and I should feed him rat pups every two weeks. I don't want to over feed him, but I also am not sure if he is still growing since he was so underweight when i got him. Thanks so much everyone!!! Again 2 years old what the shelter told me, and he is about 3 feet long now.....hes my first snake and a great boy!!

Omg a 2 year old snake the size of a hatchling...that's awful! Definitely not over feeding him, I'd keep him any once a week since he is so small

I'd definitely size up his prey to fuzzies. Pinkies are too small for a complete meal for any ball that's not a hatchling, and while he's gained a ton of weight with you (kudos, I could NEVER imagine...), fuzzies are an ideal kick-up point now that he's eating steadily for you.

Best of luck with him, and thank you for taking him over!!

He needs a rat pup every 5 days. There's no way that snake is 2 years old and 88 grams. Maybe 2 months and 88 grams.
