Okay I'm suited up for my first cage cleaning day (hopefully I will do it this evening) I have read much about cleaning and here's what I have in hand-

    Bleach

    Towels/rags

    Hydrogen Peroxide

    Rubbing Alcohol

    Vinegar

    Latex Gloves

    Fresh Substrate

Rubbermaid to hold Icc while I disinfect

    Access to water

Now here is the tricky part... What are the exact ratios? And what exactly is safe or most effective on what?

I just use a 5%bleech to water mix on everything and rinse like no tomorrow. Depending on what the hides are made of you can bake some of them clean. And I use a sponge as my cleaning untesil and towels/rags to wipe/dry the enclosure.

Bleach water 5% solution for anything impermeable, rinsed thoroughly. Vinegar/water ~50% solution for any glass or mirrors (use newspaper instead of rags for a streak-free shine). Hydrogen peroxide 100% for your hair. Rubbing alcohol 100% for anything permeable (like wood), rinse thoroughly. Latex gloves for your hands at all times, so you don't get housewife hands.

LMAO! I just got the gloves because I HATE when my hands smell like bleach.. I worked cleaning commercial kitchens in high school and emptying fryers etc. Bleach hands does not bring back happy memories haha. I thought there was some sort of mix with Hydrogen Peroxide and vinegar or something that Smynx or Smulking posted about ... or maybe I dreamt it.

Hee hee. I hate that, too, because it takes over 24 hours for the smell to go away, even if you wash your hands so many times they're chapped. The vinegar is great for cleaning glass and making it shiny without any toxic fumes or anything.

Instead of all that mixing this and using this for that why don't you just get some Virosan from pro-exotics. It can be used on everything, will clean everything, no need to rinse, safe to even use on your hands or right on the snake.
Good stuff and a breeze to use.
Check it out on their web site.
    I love it!

Jonah, Smulkin did post something about hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. Put them in separate spray bottles. Spray on one, then the other (doesn't matter which is first). Let them sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off with a paper towl. Germs should be gone! It's a much more cost-efficient sanitizer than commercially made products like Wipe Off by Zoo Med. But Jody's right, Virosan is probably the way to go if you're looking for one product to do it all. That reminds me, we still need to order some.

Here's a little sticky I threw together yesterday - I included both of your industrial size Virosan links (Smynx and Smulkin) - and Jotay, I'm ordering some Virosan ASAP haha
