    Digital thermometer

Ok so I just got my two new digital thermometers in the mail. I was using the dial ones and found them not very accurate at all. I was wondering since they say NO tape inside of enclosure how I can keep the probe over the hot side.

I place the probe between the UHT or heat tape and the tub/tank.
Then I measure the actual temp achieved at 90 degree setting and increase until the basking spot reads 90 on one of my IR temp guns.

Hot glue on the wire leading up to the thermometer probe, not on the probe itself. I believe Raven01 was thinking of the placement of a thermostat probe.

Yep I was, forgive my brainfart and follow Annarose's advice.

    Re: Digital thermometer

Are you using an UTH mat? If so, sandwich the probe between the mat and the bottom of the enclosure then use the metal HVAC tape to secure the mat around the edges. Place your thermometer probe on the inside of the enclosure over the hot spot. You can then adjust your thermostat based on what your thermometer reads.

This is one of my QT tanks, looking inside of the tank. I do the same with my T8s. Never put tape over the probe itself:
