Ok I plan on jetting out of here in Aug for a week to go to Ocean City, Md for vacation.
My question is I have no one I trust to look after my bp other than make sure no breaker has blown in the house due to sudden summer storms and check the readings on the temp gauges to make sure all is good.
I was wondering if I give Ozzy fresh water the morning I leave will it be ok until I return 5 day later?
I really want no one opening the cage. I will have someone in to look after the cat and feed her so they can check in and look at temps and if a problem call me but that's about it.

Have others done this with there bp's?
Thanks in advance for any input.

    Picture problems

I've left for a weekend (2 days) and just made sure the bowl was absolutely full (and I have a thermostat).. perhaps adding a second dish for water could be good.... ah it's a tough call. Ideally you want someone to change the water daily and check the temps.... Sorry I don't know more = other surely will though.

Everything should be fine. I'd rather leave stale water for 5 days than risk someone opening the cage and the snake getting out, but then again I've lost 2 ball pythons that way before, so maybe I'm just overly cautious.

Marla, being in the safety and security field, I pride myself when It comes to paying attention. Yet I managed to loose Hissy right under my nose So I would say that one can never be cautious enough when it comes to BP's. I'm actually considering sometime in the future to add a secutiry system to my enclosure so I would know if it got breached from the outside or inside 8) It will be computer controlled and the system will open up the enclosure when approved people use a special card activated system Violatros will be formated

Yes Marla that's how I feel or someone wanting to play with him that isn't use to dealing with snakes. I just don't want to lose him or anyone screw up temps, humididty etc.
I have T-stats as well otherwise I wouldn't even consider leaving him without proper care. I will put freash water in on Mon am when I leave and I will be back on Fri evening so not to to long.

Iceman sounds like a great system just don't go growing any 100' Pythons or 80' Boa's ( Boa v. Pyhton movie)

Jotay, I'm sure he'll be just fine. If you're worried about the water evaporating, then, like Jonah said, put in an extra bowl, or just a larger-than-usual bowl. And maybe keep it on the cool side of the tank if you usually keep it on the warm side. Less promotion of bacterial growth that way, and less evaporation. And even if the power goes out, since it's summertime, I'm sure he'll get along just fine.

Raj, why not just go for GPS implants and cut to the chase?

Jotay, I'm sure everything will be fine, though Judy makes a good suggestion about the water.

I don't have so much of a worry for food and water for my bp when I'm out of town, I'm much more concerned about the power going out or the bulb burning out. I would hate to come home to my bp with a RI or worse.....

Brad, if it's summertime and you turn your AC off while you're gone...or at least set it to maintain a higher-than-usual temp...I'm quite sure your BP would survive a few days without power or supplemental heat. In the winter-time, I would be much more of a worry-wort to leave them unattended for so long!

Hmm, so if I left the thermostat around 78-80 she'd be fine? I'm guessing it'd be better to have her eat a few days before I leave so she can utilize the lamp to digest, then just hang out in 80 degree air while I'm gone.....
