    fair price

Looking at the female spider het albino. They are asking 300.00. Is that a fair price?

Also, I know there are no guarantees with a het but are there any visible signs of het albino? I currently have a normal male (originally thought was female) that when I took him to an expo to have him sexed found out he might be het pied. If I were to get the spider what could I produce?

of course there are guarantees on hets, as long as you get it from a reputable breeder and they say it's a 100% het for ______ gene.
it's the 66% and possible hets that might not prove out.
breeding a normal male to a spider female would net you roughly 50% spiders, and 50% normals.
$300 seems a little high for a juvie spider female, but check out faunaclassifieds.com and kingsnake.com to be sure.
also http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/ is great for finding out what breeding a particular snake to another will net you.

    good luck

If she is actually het Albino from someone who can back that up then $300 is ok.

Your "maybe" het Pied male and her would just produce a bunch of Spiders and normals possibly het Albino and not likely het Pied.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the other sites. How would you rate her as an example of the morph average, better, worse?

Het pieds often have "pied markers," like a ringer (correct me if I'm wrong Loonunit). Unfortunately there's no similar marker for a het albino. Het pieds are a little unusual in that they can sometimes have (an as yet poorly understood) effect on some morphs, which seems to be expressed the strongest in some of the multi gene animals involving a super form. But I'm not really a pied person, so hopefully one of those can clarify.

You need the gene to come from both sides to have a visually recessive animal, so you wouldn't get any pieds or albinos from that pairing. Just spiders and normals. I would suggest you instead search for a het pied female to try and prove him out, kingsnake and fauna are good places to start. I think she's decent looking though if your heart is set on a spider, but it sounds like you're more interested in breeding.

    Re: fair price

Well I haven't decided fully on whether I want to breed or not just kind of exploring options and trying to get a feel for what look for in certain morphs. When I bought the normal it was simply as a single pet no other thoughts in mind os wasn't concerned about sex or anything. I just wanted a healthy animal which by the way he's been feeding and his first shed etc. I think I have. I've actually been really looking at bumble bees and super pastels and the combinations. I know it will take a while to get a female ready though If I did decide to breed, so I thought if this was a good deal on a female I might get her, and that would give me two or three years to consider If I wanted to breed. Then I could pick up a super pastel or bumble bee male or something along those lines. The questions on my normal were more just to see if I had lucked into a bargain. Thanks for the input. There is so much to take in and consider here.

For what it's worth, she's a very nice healthy looking snake and she does have very nice markings. The only person who can determine whether or not she's worth the money is you. Personally I would not buy her because I'm not a big fan of spider morphs and I already have plenty of albinos and spiders. But if albino spiders are something that excites you then you should go for it. The $300.00 price tag is pretty much immaterial for an animal that will eat several times that amount in rats over her lifetime, I would say it's a fine price and if I wanted that snake I would pay it.
