Re: hypo hog
Very handsome boy! He must be enjoying it, or he would be trying to get out.

He's very pretty!
Question - what is making the suds in the water? Are you using soap?

That's how you get those "clean" patterns.

May I ask why? Snakes don't generally need baths at all, let alone one with soap of any kind. And as gentle as Dawn is, it could be dangerous if it gets up in the snake's nostrils or ingested (which often happens when a snake is in water). Although Dawn is often used by wildlife officials to clean animals that get caught up in oil spills, etc, caregivers are extremely careful to avoid getting it in the animal's mouth and nose. I'm not being critical, but there are many folks here who are new or might not understand. If you have a particular reason for doing this, please explain. Thank you!

Evenstar, the reason I put a couple drops in there was because I woke up to discover he took a massive poop and then decided he wanted to get it all over himself. It was quite nasty! I mean normally a regular bath will be fine but this was horrid, I washed my hands 3 times after bathing him and still couldn't get the smell off! I also heard about them possibly ingesting it or breathing it in, so I made 100% sure this didn't happen. He loves baths and will sit completely still for me. If it was one of my ones that don't like baths I wouldn't have done it because then it could accidentally harm them
I don't normally bathe them, and this was the first time I put a little dawn in there and that was only because Kenai (the hypo hog) got super disgusting
But thank you for your concern! I feel like I'm constantly learning and I like it when people can be forward with their information, helps us all learn!

Thank you for explaning! That sounds reasonable to me. I just like to get clarification for things like this because sometimes people with less experience who read the thread will think it's something that is always ok to do.
