Ralph Davis Line Lesser VS Lesser?

I've been told that you can really tell the difference between a Ralph Davis Lesser and a normal Lesser. I have a normal Lesser female and a Pastel Lesser male. Clearly anything I breed him to other than her will be a Ralph Davis Line, but what happens when if I breed the two Lessers together? I know there will be BEL's and there they would be a combo of the two, but how to tell the two Lesser lines apart? Does anyone have a Ralph Davis Lesser? Even better does anyone have both?

a lesser is a lesser is a butter is a lesser is a butter.

They are the same mutation. There is as much variation between different lessers/butters as there is between different normals.

Re: Ralph Davis Line Lesser VS Lesser?

i also think they are really the same, just with different genetics on all the other chromosomes, basically the changes you can get by line-breeding to differently looking normals.

super ralph davis lesser looks like normal super lesser looks like combined super (with one of each). the same is also true for butter, on its own or combined with lesser or ralph davis lesser.

its still not a bad idea to keep an eye open, just in case, but you can be 99% sure its the same and 99.95% sure that the basic combos and super-forms work just like you expect them to, even when you mix the lines, or when you go "that butter combo looks nice.... ill try to make one myself... with my lessers".

Granted no one mixed up or crossed 'butter' and 'lesser', all snakes labeled 'lesser' should theoretically be descended from Ralph Davis' animals.
He was the founder of the Lesser Platinum gene.

But I'm sure there are a lot of crossing between lessers and butters.
Either way, they're the same genetic mutation. Just natural variation between individuals is what makes them different.

Ralph produced the original lessers from his platinum lesser (aka platty Daddy) and most snakes out there called lesser are descendents from that snake. But I believe that Sean Bradley also imported a snake from Africa which is a new line of the same mutation that he was calling his African lessers.

    Hi,

Just to add to that Noah is selling his own line direct ( probably the same line Sean Bradley has ) to some suppliers over here as that is where I got mine.

Ralph Davis Line Lesser VS Lesser?

I have a 1st generation RDR lesser that I purchased from Justin Teo. He came from a RDR platty daddy x normal pairing.

In my opinion, since he is a 1st gen that is why he is so reduced and has such great color.

RE: Ralph Davis Line Lesser VS Lesser?

He looks a lot like my NERD lesser blackback. A high quality lesser is a high quality lesser, and when you combine the two you will get high quality leaders and high quality BEL that will throw similar combos to the parents. I don't think you will be able to differentiate and market them as separate lines. Just my .02 cents of course :-)
