BP Cloudy Eyes
Hey all,
So I have had my bp for a few months, i adopted him from another owner who took wonderful care of him. He's about a year and 9 months. His feedings and sheddings have always been normal. I LOVE him. He is super sweet and a great buddy but I'm a little worried about his cloudy eyes. I noticed it when I got him but it was about time for his shed so i didnt think much of it. His eyes have remained cloudy since his shed though. Anybody have any thoughts? I guess it's possible that he may be blind but I haven't seen any other symptoms. He is VERY relaxed, barely even coils around me when I hold him and just relaxes for the most part. He has only had to strike twice during one feeding, other than that, he has had no trouble.
Should I be worried?'

It's really just all guesses unless you can post some pictures for us. Are you sure the eye caps came off with his last shed?

Could be stuck eye caps. They shed eye caps but sometimes they fail to shed from being alittle to dry. Not a big problem. You can let them come off with the next shed or try to gently rub them to get them to pop off.
With out seeing the snake this is only a guess. A picture would be helpful.

Sound like eye caps. I would not leave them on
I have heard of several methods to remove them (none of which I have had to try):
1) soak your bp for about 20 mins in lukewarm water and then take a wet soft cloth and try whiping it over the eyes to remove the caps (I would not rub then too much and if they are not coming off after a few wipes, try again in a few days)
2) take a pillow case, and toss the snake inside it. Then take a towel, soak it in warm water, ring out the excess water so it is wet but not dripping, and toss it in with the snake. Take the entire pillowcase and tie the end now so the snake can't escape, and place the pillowcase in a dark, warm location. (Back in the snakes enclosure near its heat source works well). Leave the snake overnight in this setup. While trying to escape the bag, the bp will rub itself against the towel and the wet pillowcase. The moisture will help separate the skin and hopefully the rubbing will help snag the eye cap naturally.
3) take a cotton swab or quetip and some olive oil and gently rub it over the eye.
