I could buy one from garrick for $200 and she is right at 1500g, if she gives me 6 eggs and 4 of them are spiders that's $800 in the bank for a nice enchi or lesser. Just wanted to get someones POV....do you think it's a good plan or bad plan?
Just add a little more to the $200 and you could have a female Enchi or Lesser long before that breeding would yield any results...Also you're not getting $200 dollars for hatchling Spiders...
BTW $200 for a Normal female is way too much!

You could just save that 200 , add on another 200 and just buy the morph you want this season.
What your counting on in your 'plan' is a bunch of 'Ifs'.
'If' your spider is even interested in breeding yet.
'If' the normal you buy actually breeds with the spider male, she might not have follicles even developed.
If you actually got a fertile clutch out of her.
If you even got 6 eggs
but what if you had horrible luck and ended up with a clutch of normals.
or maybe you did get spiders but they ended up being all male. That plan would be a bust .Your certainly not going to sell male spiders for $200, and not even females really .
I mean its starting to get kind of late in the season now, likely by the time you get eggs most of the 2013 babies will already have hatched. You could likely get a much better deal/selection waiting till then when everyone is trying to sell their babies.
I hadn't even mentioned a quarantine which should at minimum add a good 30 days before you even put this new snake into your established animals.

Yeah i was reading some stuff online about buying adult females and how it isn't the best thing to do. I'll just wait and get a few babies this season and buy all my racks. I'm new to all this and i gotta find patience i guess.....

here is how i would do it with such limited funds:
save for nice looking 1-gene females, like female enchi or female pinstripe or whatever codominant/dominant you like.
take care that you have about 3 females for 1 male, not too many males. however, since you breed one male to between 2 and 4 females, and males are cheaper, the males are where you should invest in a good-looking multi-gene animal.
then, in 2 or 3 years, you can start a nice breeding operation. and it will not produce 50% normals and 50% spiders, you will get 2-gene and 3-gene hatchlings and single gene hatchlings and only few normals.
also watch out for morph issues:
http://www.owalreptiles.com/issues.php
when considering working with these genes and when in doubt, ask here. You can still work with these genes of course, its just that some pairings should be avoided. Genes that are not on the list can be combined in any way without any problems.

You should quarantine all new arrivals for at least 3 months, and I've heard of breeders doing 6 months when working with high-end morphs, so that you should give you an answer right there. How much money would you lose if the new one is sick and you pair it up with one or more of your males, and they all catch what she has? You'll either be looking at hundreds in vet bills, or worse, they all die. O_o
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~ Herm Albright
