HELP! caring for more than one snake hard?

im new ball pythons, and i was wondering how hard is it to keep 2 or more snakes? i just got my albino ball python a week ago, and now i want more. im interested in buying a BEL, clown, ivory, killer/pastel clown. would it be hard to take care of 2 snakes? then id probably need 2 tank setups because id treat them as pets, not for breeding purposes as the ppl with rack systems do. im also heading to college in 2 years, so wat do u guys think

You can also purchase 1 t8 from animal plastics...use the divider and keep 2 in 1 T8


having multiple snakes is like having multiple anythings...you just need to get them all on a set schedule, stick to that schedule and give yourself enough time to take care of your pets needs and any issues that may arise.

I have 3 snakes...and its no harder than taking care of 1....just takes a little bit more $ for feedings and a bit more time once a month for complete cleanings...(i spot clean as needed)

in some ways having more than 1 can be easier- mainly b/c you know what you will and wont need equipment wise and b/c you already know how to care for one...

No matter what you do keep new snakes quarantined for 3 to 6 months.

i have 1 male regular ball python right now.

when i get my own place i want to get a boa- and possibly sooner before that i will get 1 or 2 more balls but after the balls thats it because by then i will be breeding them also.

breeding won't be happening for another 5 years though probably

Racks aren't just for breeders. They take less space and are easier to maintain proper husbandry with.

yeah i know but considering them as pets, makes me feel kinda bad to have them in a simple setup like that. i wanna spoil them if u know wat i mean lol. if its like 4 or more then i would use a rack system

This has nothing to do with spoiling. The best way to care for a ball python properly is in a rack setup. Tanks and misc. other things only benefit the keeper so you can feel better about yourself and/or view a snake easily. Trust me, breeders use tubs and racks because they are superior, not because its cheap or unfitting for the animals.

This has nothing to do with spoiling. The best way to care for a ball python properly is in a rack setup. Tanks and misc. other things only benefit the keeper so you can feel better about yourself and/or view a snake easily. Trust me, breeders use tubs and racks because they are superior, not because its cheap or unfitting for the animals.

This. There is nothing wrong with keeping them in a tank. Don't blame you for wanting to be able to see your snakes. However ball pythons like to be in small dark areas and tub allow for much better control of humidity. Just something to consider.

If you do go with some kind of tank style, consider something like the ap PVC style cages. Screen tops make it difficult to maintain humidity.

I don't know that you can say racks are the "best" for balls. Racks are great but not for everyone in every situation. I have glass tanks, pvc cages, and tubs. All provide the needed habitat and my snakes are all doing great.

My ball is in a glass tank and you can usually find her every night hiding in the cover watching the outside world. Now I can not say she enjoys this but you can not say she doesn't.

Taking care of one or two I think is about the same amount of work and you should be able to handle that with ease.

My only word of caution is about plans for school. Don't think that your parents will give the needed care if you go away for school or the school will not allow them. Craigslist always have ads from parents left with pets when their kid leaves the nest.

well when i move out ill have an apartment and tabks and especially rack systems take no space at all. plus snakes are way easier to take care then like a dog, so i dont think going to college would be too much of a problem at all even with 2 snakes or maybe evn more. moving them and all the equipment might be a hassle though
