Is that opening going to be covered with a heat lamp or anything?

    Re: Is this enough ventilation?

I don't know. Its big enough for my heat lamp, but i don't like using it because it sucks the humidity. If this new setup can keep my tank warm enough, then no. Is there any other way i can get the temperature up? The basking area is nice and warm with a UTH, but the ambient temperature is only 70-75. Although, she hangs out in the cool hide or wrapped around the water bowl almost as often as shes under the warm hide with the UTH.

You should rrally just set up a humid hide on the warm side. Then you dont have to worry about ventilation.

    Re: Is this enough ventilation?

What does a humid hide have to do with ventilation? And she has 2 hides, one on the warm side and one on the cool side. Her tank doesn't have a problem with humidity.

    Re: Is this enough ventilation?

Humid hide means no tin foil or at least a lot less, also, you act as if that top is sealed around the edges....I kept mine about the same and it was perfect!! It worked very well for both heat and humidity. I went from misting like every hour to misting once MAYBE twice a day, even when in sged

Anyway, this should be fine, even with a light. Just make sure it doesn't start smelling like stale or bad air when you open it!!!

If the tank doesn't have a problem with humidity, then why do you need to cover the screen top?

A humid hide would reduce the need to cover the entire screen top.

If it were me, I would add another hole on the other side of the screen so you can get some cross ventilation.

    Re: Is this enough ventilation?

i've had the tin foil on there ever since i got my snake and the humidity was fine, i just re did it today hoping to keep some heat in and make it look a little better. Mainly, thats why im using the tin foil: to trap heat. and i may add another little hole on the other side. where the pink wash cloth is is actually a hole, i just wet the wash cloth and put it over the hole to help with the humidity I never have to spray the enclosure by doing this. I just have a little trouble with the heat.

    Is this enough ventilation?

Tanks actually do not vent well. Simply it takes apx 7 times the height to get free flowing air. This basically means the entire floor of the tank is a back eddy. Restricting the movement more may not be a good idea. Humid hides during sheds allows the best ventilation. Heat lamps actually increase the air flow by making thermals. IMO yes that is covered far to much.

i just make a 3" x 4" hole on the hot side, just below the wash cloth. Does this better help the ventilation issue?
