i was wondering what the normal amount and time it takes for my ball to defacate. i feed him adult mice every 5 to 10 days. how often should he defacate? is it possible for him to become constipated? could he have a parasite? when he does defacate, i have checked it to see if i could see sumthin wrong with it, and it appeared normal. however, sumtimes i wonder if he does poop enuff tho. plz help.

    Re: My little rant......

Did I miss something? How do you guys know his snake is pooping fine?
RU, your snake should probably poo about once a month or so, although once every six weeks isn't uncommon. It depends on the age/size of your snake, feeding amount/frequency, and activity level of your snake. It is possible for snakes to become constipated, but if he is going once a month or so, you most likely have nothing to worry about. You could always take a sample to a vet and have it checked for parasites, if you are concerned about that.

New snake keepers are often baffled at the length of time their snakes can go in between offloads, so we typically tell them to calm down and wait it out.
If you want to "encourage" your snake to poo, a lukewarm bath (75-80 degrees) for an hour or so will usually facilitate a load dump.

And it can vary widely - our younger BPs poop every 7-10 days, the older every 3-4 weeks - sure age and activity level play as much role as feeding schedule and how consistently they feed on that schedule. I was just being light on the grammar.

    Q: Do BPs like McNuggets?

What kind of warm bath container would you put the snake into? How deep?

The container type is whatever you want to use. The water should be shallow enough that your snake doesn't have to swim to stay above water. If he coils on himself, his head should be able to rest above the water level. A lid is recommended, because they usually will try to get out (just like in any enclosure!)

Do you poop after every meal? Wait, don't answer that. The point is that considering how much slower their metabolisms are, defacating every 3 to 6 meals is nothing to sweat over.
