Sunglow?
Hey guys, i'm looking at finally buying a boa! I'm extremely excited about buying one. I don't really have a preference of which type yet but I have a question about this one I found on an ad. The add says this is a double het sunglow, but I've googled sunglows and they look nothing like this picture. It looks more to me like a redtail. Can anyone help me out? This is the only pic that they posted.

It is possible it is a DH Sunglow, if the add said Het then its not visual.
Where did you find the add?

Re: Sunglow?
It was on kijiji, I asked for more pictures. If it is a sunglow they don't know what they're worth because it's a hell of a deal for 100 bucks!

its not a Sunglow, but supposedly het for sunglow, meaning if you bred it you might get sunglows as a result. Still a pretty snake though, I like it.

Ahh okay the ad says double het sunglow. Maybe the person just didn't know what they were talking about. Thanks!

I dont think I am well versed enough in boa morphs to be able to determine a het and or exact morph type. Hopefully some more experienced boa peoples will chime in, I would suggest posting this to Red Tail Boa forum. Let me know how it goes

A snake is "het" or heterozygus for a recessive gene (like albino). Hypomelanism (hypo) is a co-dominant gene - in other words, there is a super form. If a snake is a hypo, but not a "super-hypo", then it is a visual het for the super form.
If a snake is referred to as "double het" for sunglow, that means that the snake is a hypo 100% het albino. It is truly a "double het" sunglow.
Now I cannot tell you for sure if this particular animal is a hypo - the overall color of the picture is off so it's impossible to know based on this picture alone. If the animal is normal colored, then it is NOT double het sunglow because it is not a hypo. It would only be a normal het albino.
Make sense??
