I finally got Octavia, my '03 BP, probed. Turns out, she's a he. So I guess that "popping" snakes when you get them, is no reliable way to sex them.
I still love "him" just as much. But I was hoping for him to be a female, since I want to breed BPs someday in this lifetime. Luckily Bela is a bona fide female. So now the tally for me is, three males and one female.

So will Octavia be changing her name to Octavio? Popping baby balls is reliable if they pop as males, but not as reliable if they pop as females, especially if they're already a few months old.
3.1.1 BP (Snyder, Hanover, Bo Peep, Sir NAITF, Eve), 1.2.3 Rhacodactylus ciliatus (Sandiego, Carmen, Scooby, Camo, BABIES ), 1.0 Chow (Buddha), 0.2 cats (Jezebel, PCBH "Nanners"), 0.3 humans
