Feeding question from a new owner

I'm new to ball pythons, but have done a lot of research about them and have recently bought one. It's a baby, about 15 inches long.

Here's my question. I have heard from many sources that I should feed my ball python in a seperate container than its cage. However, I've also heard that this is not true, and its just something people say because that's what they've been told. What is the general consences? Everyone hear is probably much more knowledgeable than I am, so what do you think? Thanks

Oh on the record, I feed inside the tank and I've never been bitten or even struck at by my BP. As long as the substrate isn't really loose feeding inside is fine... now with an af rock or retic - i may try another method
