    Sexing question finally answered today

I've had this 2600g "female" I traded for months ago. There was a questioable probing done (6 scales) and we couldn't not pop any hemi-penes. We deemed it a female. I have paired this "female" with 4 males and no visible locks so far.

Today I took the snake to Dr. Bogan who is the herpetoligist for Gator Land in FL. He probed it 8 scales and said it was a male. i asked him to please feel it's belly because I though I felt about 6 large folicles. He felt the same thing.

We put it to the ultrasound and we saw 12 folicles measured at 25mm!! He was surprised.

I just can't figure why I have not seen her lock with any of my proven males?? At 25mm she should be ready??

The fact that you put the "female" in with four males and they were ok together would lean me toward female, not male.

I picked up a rescue that I thought must be female but when I tried putting it with two proven breeder males all hell broke loose, every time.

They could be locking, it's easy to miss if you aren't checking on them non stop.

So with those follicles does that mean she has been breed and you didn't catch them in the act, or does it just mean she is viable and may or may not have been bred yet. I wish I had access to an ultrasound machine I swear I feel something I. All of mine and they lock every time I put them with the male but I can't tell if its follicles or organs or food.

She is definitely viable and if she has locked will probably lay later this year, 25mm is prime time they usually ovy around 40mm or so.

Try to palpate your female on an empty stomach after a bowel movement. You should feel a string of pearls from the midway point down. The bigger the follicles the easier to check.
