Potential new acquisition
I'll start by saying first I have no intention of becoming a serious breeder or trying to make a living off of my snakes.
They are interesting pets and a hobby for me. If I can produce a few decent snakes and cut down some of the cost of my hobby that is a bonus.
What I don't want is to produce snakes that are hard to sell and get stuck keeping many more snakes than I am ready for long term.
So, I would love input from members on just how interested you would be in the potential offspring.
I currently have a 1.0 orange ghost to be bred to a 0.1 yellowbelly when their weights are up.
I was thinking of purchasing a desert het hypo and a desert spider 50% het hypo or two from a high-end breeder to pair with any resulting female yellowbelly 100% het hypo's.
(If I hit the jackpot and produce a male desert spider ghost yellowbelly that won't be for sale unless there is more than one).
So, from experienced breeders/sellers I have to ask, would this be even a half way smart plan or will I have 30-40 pets when I originally expected no more than a dozen?

You probably know, but the downside to any desert combo is that the females do not reproduce. They slug out and/or die with their first clutch. That said, you might have some trouble selling any desert female offspring down the road. Aside from that, I'd say you have the potential for some beautiful babies.

Re: Potential new acquisition
I had thought of that, females would definitely only be "pet" snakes only and owners advised of the breeding issues.
My thought was, I would rather the new owner spend more money on looking after the snake than on the snake and, those females would go dirt cheap(thinking @ normal price just different appearance and I know a guy that will likely work with me on a "total package" snake and habitat at his pet store, actually he has been so helpful I'd give him the females under those conditions).

Re: Potential new acquisition
Nice snake. And that pic inadvertently answered a minor question I hadn't asked.
I see the pale dot shows up clearly even on the hypo pale head.
Thanks a bunch.
