    Is my ball too small?

I have a male lesser, who eats good but I feel like he is too small.

He is 6 months old, 22 inches, and 173 grams.

I have been feeding him a 20 gram f/t mouse every sat, no refusals yet. Also only had him a month, so the first week he didn't eat (not offered, purchased on feeding day), 2nd week ate 2 15ish gram mice, 3 week a 20 gram, and this 4th week yet another 20 gram.

He has been here a month, no shed and not in blue. His colors did look fresh on purchase day though.

Those pics are the day of purchase.

    Is my ball too small?

I would bump up feeding to every five days.

I agree with Rob. He's smaller, but not unhealthy looking. Breeders don't tend to feed babies they are going to sell at the same level as ones they are keeping. They aren't starving them, but the babies aren't going to grow as fast as some, either. Your boy should catch up with no problem.

He could stand to gain some weight, but I don't think he looks skinny. I like my babies to be chubby, so I tend to feed them a bit more often. You could easily feed him every 4 days if you want to fatten him up. Also, when you feed him make sure the prey is large enough to make a little bump in him, I prefer the prey item to be slightly thicker than the snake.

x3 on bumping him up to every 5 days. Also try to feed at least 15% of his weight. I usually feed about 17% of my snakes' weights every 5 days. It's a little above the standard recommended size but they've been growing nicely on that with no problems.
