6 Year-old Snake, new behavior?

It's been a while since I've been on this site but I'm back and it's good to see that the community is still going strong.

Now on to my observation.

So my 6 year old spider BP has been exhibiting some different behavior over the past few months. He's been burrowing a ton and basically just going all sorts of buck wild at night. He use to be pretty active at night but I've never seen him burrow as much as he has been over the past month of so. He hardly ever uses his hides and instead sprawls out under his bedding.

My husbandry hasn't changed in years so I don't know what's causing this new/change in his behavior. Any thoughts?

Could you be specific about your temps and how you measure them?

Some ball pythons like to bury. I use newspaper but I still have a female that insists on sitting underneath her paper.

I use a digital temp and humidity reader that hangs inside the tank. I keep an ambient temp of around 82-85 and a warm spot of around 95. The humidity reads right now at 55%. This setup has been like this for 6 years.

At first I thought his hides were too small but they are definitely the right size.

Then he may just like to bury. My female normal will lay under the paper below her hide even though she'll sit in the same hide on the other side of her tub. Sometimes they want that in between temp. I'm sure it's fine and you shouldn't worry.

Are you sure it is a male?
I have heard of females producing eggs and have never been bred. Maybe trying to ovate.
