    How many females?

I am currently starting to build muy collection with the purpose of recreational breeding and wanted to know how many females can 1 male handle? Does weight factor in?

The more the merrier! J/k...I don't think it really depends on the number of ladies he's being rotated through, as long as he has enough time to recover between sessions...

Also...if you're just building your collection, be careful that you don't end up male heavy. Happens sometime as males are typically cheaper than females. Try to make a plan or course of action and stick with it as much as possible...

My collection is pretty much 1 male for every 4 females. The hets sometimes throw the averages off. Example I have a pair of het clowns and that male is only introduced with the het clown female.

Anyway, during breeding season I don't cycle one male to more than 4 females. As far as size is concerned if they are eating then there should be no problem. If they stop eating you should keep a close eye on their weight loss and pull them from the rotation if they lose too much.

Yea i realize now i started backwards. I got a spider and a mojave. Both males. I want to get a couple girls for each and maybe add a male or two later. I am getting a mytic female in a couple weeks. She is over 400 grams. I plan on getting several females this year.

How long does it take a male to recover?

Recovery depends on the male. Last year most of my males went off feed but they kept good weight so I let them be. They all started eating again in May.

This year all of my males are still feeding with the exception of my enchi. This may be his last month in rotation.

I appreciate the comments. I think i would have to wait until next year for the mystic to be a good size. But it was the heaviest i found at that price.
