How often should my bp poop & what should I expect?

After having our bp a couple days we finally got all it's temps & humidity where they need 2 b & the snake appears happy. Our new BEL ball ate 4 us the 1st time 5 days ago. When should we expect 2 see a poop? Do we need 2 wait 2 handle till we see poop?

Right after we got him we saw whitish urate but nothing since...is this bad??? He was fed a f/t small hopper mouse. The breeder said he could take f/t hopper mice or live rat fuzzys.

The snake will poop when it needs to, it depends on the individual how often a snake will go and how often/what you feed. I wouldn't worry about it: it will go when it needs to, and you don't need to wait to handle until it goes either.

As for urates, it's normal to have a snake pass them and urine without also passing a bm.

Your snake will poop when it feels like it needs to. I have one who poops every 2 weeks and I have another who poops when he she sheds. As long as the belly isn't firm from an impaction, you're fine. As for urates, you should see those a lot more frequently. Most of mine pass a urate weekly if not twice a week.

Feeding a hopper mouse is fine. You might consider feeding rats if you can get a hold of them. They'll switch a little easier as babies versus as adults. There's nothing wrong with feeding mice, but when they get bigger, you'll have to feed 4-6 mice a feeding vs. one rat.

As for when to hold your snake, try to hold off holding it until it eats 3 consecutive times for you. After than, you can start out with small handling sessions and working your way up to longer sessions. If your snakes happens to stop eating, try not to handle it until it eats consecutively for you.

Mine poops 4 days after every meal.. Although she has only been with me for a short time.. She jut took her 4th meal for me Friday night... I fed her 24 hours after bringing her home and handle her every day except for the first 24 hours after a meal.. Never for long but she has settled on great for me..

I live in a small town but I did find 1 place about 20 minutes away willing 2 sell rat babies. I bought 1 & will c this week how it goes. I prefer rats over mice anyways. I was told from the breeder that they are fed once a week. We had him a week before he ate 4 us the 1st time. Hope it goes well cause we haven't had much luck w/ our corns

Everyone else has covered the part about when and how often. Since you also asked what to expect, allow me....
Vile. For comparison, it's not as nasty looking as bird poop, not as huge as Great Dane poop, and smells like every rotten thing you've ever smelled all mixed together and then baked in the mid day sun.
On the bright side, clean up is a snap! But you'll probably dry heave. Unless you had a large meal prior to poop discovery.

Unrelated to your thread but I wanted to let you in on the decimal system.

I notice your signature list the sex of kids and pets. You can do it your way but I wanted you to understand how many of us do it so you will understand our signatures.

We use this (example: 1.2.3 Ball Python) this would mean you have 1 male, 2 females, and 3 unsexed. Or you might see (2.3 Ball Python) meaning 2 males and 3 females.

If you only have one snake and you don't know the sex you would list it as 0.0.1
If you have one male and no females our unsexed it would be 1.0.0 or shortened to 1.0

Your sig would be:
1.0 Husband
3.0 children 15,7,3
0.1 pitbull
0.2 Cats
1.1 Mice
1.0 Mohave Ball
1.0 Motley Corn

Many snakes will have a movement after a shed if they have not gone in awhile. My ball will usually go once every two weeks but she has waiting until after a shed. My blood waited a few months one time and I would have sworn a baby elephant stopped by when she finally went.

Ball pythons sometimes just do stuff like this. sometimes they refuse to eat for up to 2 months or refuse to poop for a month. But then its never wrong to check the temperature, maybe the temperature-drop at night is a bit too much and it slows down digestion or something like that.

Dont stop feeding the snake just because it stops pooping.

About handling, i wouldnt handle the snake for 24 hours after a meal, i wouldnt handle it when you have two in one enclosure to try to get them to breed, i also wouldnt handle it during ovulation or prior to egg-laying. and when it comes to settling into a new enclosure/home, i would give the snake 1 week off.

Apart from that, you can handle it. You can still handle it when it refuses to eat or poop or whatever.

Our temps have been staying @ or around...

intellitemp heat mat = 88-91 degrees
air temp = 75-80 degrees
humidity = 55-61%

It took us a while 2 get it 2 stay @ these. We had humidity problems @ 1st & then molding issues. We used what the breeder suggested (cyprus mulch) but 2 days later had 2 change due 2 several moldy spots. We now use aspen w/ no issues. We have sterrilite tubs w/ holes...I would post pix but it says I need a url & they are just saved on my comp.

Are these temps & % ok or do I need 2 change em again??? I was trying 2 go by what the breeder used.
