Is this odd

I have heard people talk about there balls not eating this time of year or when breeding. All eight of my balls eat almost every time its offered even my females who are building The only time any have refused is a couple times when in blue and then they would eat a day or two later. Am I just lucky or is it that it is inevitable and I just haven't seen it yet.

I'd say you're pretty lucky. You also just may not have seen it yet. It's considered a norm for them to go off feed, so consider yourself lucky until it happens

I think you are lucky as well. If this is your first season they may not have reached the point of satiation yet. That said, I have several females that eat well all the way through the season.

I don't think it's lucky, I think it's somewhat typical (here at least). I find that my breeding females eat very heavy until a couple/few weeks before ovulation. I started breeding in November and all my males are still eating as well, many will eventually stop later in the season. But heavy feeding by the females and stopping like you flipped a switch is when I know the female is almost there.

Same here! It's like their appetite is insatiable for a while then they just stop eating.

I agree with Dave, most of my females eat well into their glow and stop a few weeks before ovulating.

Mine are 50/50, some are eating and some are not. This is my third year breeding and I have noticed that they consistently do the same thing every year (some go off feed in October and some eat up until ovy). It will take some time to learn their individual habits and then you will stress out less about it next year.
