    'Fasting'...

So, I've been reading up on as much as I can, and I read something about 'fasting' during breeding season. What exactly does this mean?
About how long do they do this, when do they start, and what should I expect to see?

Steve's still a younger boy, but he's growing larger and I want to be ready for these things.

Every BP will be different. Generally speaking any time between october and march of the next year is fair game.

Some BP's eat great all the time, while other BP's will stop eating for no apparent reason any time of the year. I wouldn't worry about breeding season fasting, just don't worry as much if he doesn't eat during the winter. Very few BP's will starve themselves to death, an adult can go more than a year without food.

I had one girl fast for 9.5 months and only lost 50g. It can be worrisome and obnoxious at times, but most of my snakes have been fine about eating year round, or fasting only for short, or commonly expected periods (i.e. females before laying eggs).

If it gets too cold, they can fast, if they get stressed, they can fast.. if they're breeding they may fast. Sometimes they just decide to fast once they get to a certain size to be annoying. lol.
