Ughhh soooo very disappointed not only for not aquiring a new pet but in humanity also. I answered a CL ad. I know, I know red flags everywhere when dealing with CL reptiles. I have found some great deals and still troll it from time to time. I work out of state and enjoy checking out the local areas ads when i'm there. Well I found someone advertising 1.1 adult Dumerils for sale. I called and we spoke at length about the animals. I made arrangements to stop on my way home and look at them. It was about 45 min each way in the wrong direction but for the price it was well worth it. I was guarenteed that they were 100% healthy and feeding great. OK getting upset just trying to type all this so switching to the short version. The female was approx 7 feet long and i've seen male rtbs with heavier bodies. the male was supposedly 10 years old and a proven breeder but my 3 yo is longer and thicker. He had scars all over his head and back. I know dums are prone to rubbing but on his back? he was in a 15 gal fish thank on dirty newsprint and a water dish. an non regulated uth. I felt so bad. thought well they just need some tlc and a boat load of rats. I offered a ridiculously low ball offer on the pair and with little struggle settled on $140 for the pair. at that point I had only checked out the male. So I bagged the boy and asked to see the female. She was gorgeous! Seriously was jealous that my big girl wasnt as pretty as she was. Her cage was also disgusting but atleast it was a little bigger. however it was soaked with water. The person said that she liked to dump her water all the time and that she really needed a beter water dish for her. She had so much scaring on her face from rubbing it wasnt pretty. Poor girl. I really wished I had taken photos just to show you all. It took all of about 30 seconds of handling her to see swelling in her throat, feel gurgling in her throat and she was breathing so hard you could feel it from almost a foot away. I showed the lady all the signs and she did a horrible job at feigning shocked. Then she proceeded to offer a good deal on just the male since I didnt see anything wrong with him. I was like no thank you I have to much time and money in my collection to take the risk. She then went on to explain the qt process and what to do to get rid of RI's and how easy it was to fix. she then tried play lets make a deal cause she really needed to make room for her new animals that were coming. I'm sorry but i'm not monty hall and i'm not taking the gamble. I was sooo upset.Wasted my time and my money going out of my way to see them. I had even explained that I had been away from home working for two weeks and how important it was to me that I have accurate info as not to waste either of our time. I also explained that if they were as advertised I would purchase them but if she left anything out I would certainly not be bringing them home. How could people knowingly try to sell sick animals? I flagged the ad and posted a warning on cl about the animals being ill and needing medical attention. Just so disappointed knowing not only that there are scum out there that will do anything to make a buck but that those bueatiful dums are more than likely going to die. I wont name names or post any links but I will say that anyone in the cleveland/parma area becareful purchasing any dums or sand boas off of CL. She lives approx 10 min from the cleveland show location. I am sorry for all the rambling but I really needed to vent. I really wish I had another qt room and extra vet money. I probably would have brought them home. I feel like a horrible person for just leaving them there to die![]()
