    a little help please :)

I have my male Bp in a 3'x2'x18" enclosure. While a girl could do just fine, I have my big female in a 4' boaphile.

Any heat mats must be run by a thermostat. Depending on the cage you are getting, you might need a heat lamp for ambiet temperatures.

Well i read up about just heat mats (im pretty experienced with heat mats and thermostats i have 5 leos and a viper gecko)
So how will i tell if just a heat mat is okay as the hole using a heat lamp puts me off the idea of getting one, so yeah is there a way around it?

    Thanks Jordan

Re: a little help please :)

You need to use a thermometer in your tank/tub/enclosure, to measure hot, ambient/cool temps and humidity. If the heating pad alone can maintain the 90–92 never above 95 degree basking/belly heat and keep the rest of the environment 80-84 degrees than you have no need for a heat lamp, or some alternate form of heat, if it can't than you do.

If you do find yourself needing a lamp, choose a red or blue heat emitting bulb, these colors won't disturb your bp like bright white light will.
