Folicles?

What are they? lol I have always heard people talking about them and I still don't understand what there talking about.

They're the little unfertilized egg packages the female grows when she ovulates. If she is fertilized they become eggs. If she is not, she reabsorbs then for next year. People sometimes determine when to pair depending on the size of them in different stages. Supposedly they are more likely to be firtilized at a certain size in centimeters I forget.

Well I just pared my 1st ever ball pythons together yesterday and she is 1600g and I palpated her then palpated the male to feel the dif ( 1st time ever doing this) and it felt a lot dif. I felt in in the female...I think like marble sized balls but im not sure. They have locked twice since yesterday. and now there separated. When should I feel for follicles again?

Ya I palpated her again today and defently felt some ball like things in her cavity.

Not exactly. Eggs do not become eggs until ovulation. Fertilization also occurs during this time when eggs are pushed through the oviducts. Unfertilized eggs cannon be resorbed after ovulation and are just laid as underutilized ovum. Eggs are only resorbed if ovulation does not occur. Follicle size doesn't have as much to do with being fertilized as much as it is an indication of how close to ovulation the female is. The larger the follicles, the better chance you have of achieving ovulation. Again, an ovulation guarantees you will get eggs....but does not guarantee fertile eggs.

Just to clarify, the chart shows a feeding response during follicle building, so the minimal feeding response time should end at the onset of follicle building? Bubbles has now officially locked, is always at the cool end (a little bowl wrapping but she's kind of big to fit), but still not interested in food (since Nov. but not losing weight).
