Snake mites and soaking
Recently I had to battle mites on several of my snakes. I don't know how they got them, probably from me bringing them home from a trip to a pet store or something. I noticed that several of my snakes were soaking all the time just about. After about 3 days of it, I looked them over, and yepp there were mites. So i nixed everything and all that, and havent noticed any mites on them at all in about a week.
Even though I cant find any mites, a couple of them continue to soak. Is this normal after a mite infestation? I was thinking that maybe their skin was itchy still? Anything I should watch for??
I am getting tired of having to change out the newspaper everyday to keep them from getting scale rot, RI, etc from high humidity

Re: Snake mites and soaking
Ugh. Mites are a PITA...we dealt with that 2 years ago with just one of our bp's luckily.we were convincded that he got mites from the mouse from the pet store.but as soon as we treated him, he stopped soaking in his water instantly..it might be just your snakes preference to keep soaking, or hate to say it, could be another mite or 2..good luck, close eyes and keep cleaning..even when we didn't see anymore mites we still continued to clean scrub and changed newspapers for 7 days just to make sure..best of luck to yous..hope this helped
