    Escaped Snake!!!

I feel like a horrible mom. I was trying to help out my little baby to make her feel more comfortable (I had problems with that found in a previous post). I brought her into the bathroom while I took a shower since it was warm and good humidity. Sadly, she escaped. I have looked everywhere for her, and I realized that she can get behind the vanity and there is a large hole going into the wall. I'm pretty certain she has to be in the wall, and I don't know what to do. I bought a mouse for her and put it next the hole and left it there for a few hours with no luck. I looked everywhere in the hole that I can see, but it is where all the pipes go and I can't see too well in there. I even made the hole as big as I could. This is at my grandma's house and the bathroom is part of their room, so I can't look for her in there at night. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am scared she is going to die in the walls with no water. She is only 3 months old. She should be getting hungry, but I know snakes can go a long time without eating. She last ate on Monday of last week.

So you brought it in the bathroom with you and what left it on the floor? Or in a tub and it got out?
Check everything that produces heat, computers, tvs, appliances. You can throw down flour on the ground and see if it leaves a trail in the night to give you an idea of where it is. Don't forget to look high as well, they can get everywhere. Good luck, I hope you find the little guy.

The snake should be fine for a while as far as the food is concerned. It could easily manage a few weeks without much impact. The more pressing situation is temperatures. If it is too cold the snake could contract a respiratory infection. Do you have a regular heating pad you can set it on low and put it on the floor near the opening you suspect it is in? Also try putting a live mouse/rat in a one of those critter keepers where it can be closed but has plenty of holes for scent. Did you look to see if it may have gone up under the kick plate of the cabinet? If there is a hole under there it could just be under the base of the cabinet. I hope you find her soon. Good luck

I am 98% certain she is under the kick plate or in the wall. There was no other way for her to get out of the bathroom unless she squeezed under the door, and that would have to be a major squeeze. I can't even get my fingers under there. My grandparents keep the heater on pretty high, so the house does stay nice and toasty. I'm not sure how much heat makes it into the walls though. I can't find a way to really look under the vanity though. It is attached to the wall, and I can't move it. There is a way for her to get under it though. I have had the mouse in a the critter keeper for a few hours without any luck. I don't know how long that will take to draw her out though. I really hope I find her soon. Most of my family is super scared of snakes, and I don't know what they will do when they find out she is loose. I am only living here temporayily until I find a place to rent on my own, and I had to beg them to let me bring her over here. I am such a bad snake mom. I feel horrible right now.

There are scopes available that you can poke into places like that and see. I have seen them for sale, but perhaps you could borrow or rent one. Be upfront with family, especially grandparents...don't want to lose trust or give someone a heart attack over a lost snake. Try not to panic. Ours got out a few months ago and was in a purse 2 feet from the tank...after the "whole" house was searched.

If you think she is under the vanity you can pulll the face board/kick plate off. It will probably break up if it was glued on so you would have to replace it but that is not a big deal. At least then you will either have her back or know for sure she is in the wall. I agree with danojeno about fessing up. If you're old enough to move out on your own, then you're old enough to face the consequences of your actions and its only fair to them. Best of luck.
