Reptile carpet will be hard to thoroughly clean, I use aspen and paper towel substrate.

Reptile carpet is pretty, but it's a pain to keep clean (which is very important). I use reptile bark, it's easy to spot clean, holds humidity pretty well and my vacuum has no problem with it, which makes scrub down day much easier. It also seems to hold heat fairly well and my bp loves to burrow in it.
I don't mind living in a man's world as long as I can be a woman in it.

I have used ECO EARTH all along in my BP's enclosure...Holds water to help maintain humidity.

If you don't care about how it looks, using paper towels or newspaper make your life a whole lot easier. You'll definitely enjoy your pet more if its easier to take care of. Also, if its easier to clean, you're more likely to clean it, and your snake will be in a healthier environment.

As many others have said, reptile carpet is a pain to clean and sanitize on a regular basis. I couldn't imagine it smelling that great after awhile either.

I keep my bps that are in my rack on paper towels or newspaper. It's cheap, and easy to clean.

For my display tanks I use either aspen or reptibark. I tend to like the reptibark more as it helps with humidity moreso than the aspen.
