Wait him out?

Okay, I need some advice. My little guy has only taken live mice for me. He weighs 67 grams now and has shed once for me. It has been 13 days since he ate last. I know he is hungry cause he has been coming out a lot and cruising around. I have offered frozen/ thawed several times since I have had him. He always ignores it. I finally started getting him live cause he lost so much weight. He is now starting to grow and gain. Temps and humidity are right on. My question is do I wait him out until he finally gives in and takes f/t or do I keep giving him live until he gets bigger ? I really need to switch him over at some point cause it is a two hour round trip to the pet store. Oh yeah, I have thawed the mice out carefully following the directions on this site. Does not seem to make a difference.Very frustrating.

No do not hold out on a 67 gram Ball!! Feed him live if that's what he wants...

FOR THE LOVE OF SNAKE FEED HIM! That's like saying "Well my baby doesn't want peas so I won't give him food until he eats his peas".

It took me this year about 3-6 feedings to get the babies on f/t. One thing you can try is instead of dangling the rat by the tail, put the rat down in the tub and pick it up by the scruff of the neck. Then wiggle it around like its a real one crawling around. It's worked for me a couple of times.

Once he's bigger you can afford to try to switch him to f/t, but at his size you have 1 month, maybe 2 before his life is in serious jeopardy. Get him fatten up and you can try again. Older/bigger snakes can go for months before you have to worry about them dying (of course that's if they are a healthy weight to start with).
