    A few bp breeding questions.

This will be our first bp clutch and we are very excited The pair is a normal bp female to a puter male. She had her last shed on december 4. We also have the incubator up and running with temps holding steady at 88.5 - 88.9 and humidity staying at 89%. When do you guys think she will possibly lay her eggs? She has been coiling tight in her hot spot on and off each day.

Until you see an ovulation, there is no guarantee she will lay eggs, and any timeline would be a blatant guess.

Re: A few bp breeding questions.

We do know she ovulated, and we can both see and feel her eggs. This will be her second clutch, we bought her from our friend who also breds bp and has been breeding them for a few years. We think she has about 7 - 8 eggs. Her first clutch was 8 fertile eggs with no slugs. So we do know she ovulated and has eggs inside, I was just curious on when you guys think she may lay.

Do you have the ovy date written down? If you are 100% sure she ovy'd then this would be here post ovy shed so you have roughly 30 days or so before she lays.

We don't know the exact date of her ovy I'm just trying to get all the info I can so I know what to do It's very exciting lol. So she probably wont lay until the begining of Jan 2013 then maybe?

Yes if she truly ovy'd you should see eggs early Jan. The 30 days is approximate some lay 28 days some 38 days after POS. It all depends.

Thank you. This is so exciting, she weighs 2298g as of yesterday and she does look grumpy lol. I will keep you guys posted and will try and post pics of her eggs when she lays them. We can feel her eggs and see the huge bumps of each of them, we counted 7 - 8 so I'm hoping she'll lay 8, but 7 will be nice to

Not trying to be rude, but are you sure you saw an ovy? A lot of first time breeders can mistake other things like a snake that is fat or ate recently for an ovulation. If she did have one, it will be about 45-50 days until she lays. Has she been displaying other behaviors that are signs of being gravid such as wrapping around her water bowl, not eating, laying on her side or inverted? Do you have a pic of her since you say you can see the eggs?

Yes we know she is gravid, she has been wrapping around her water bowl and has also been lying on her side. The breeder we bought her from has been helping us as new bp breeders. She weighed 1700g roughly before ovy and weighs 2298g now. She has also stopped showing any interest in food.
