New BP escaped!!

We were on our way home with our 2nd BP.... a baby Spider. My two boys were handling her in the car before we put her back in the bag. I evidently didn't wrap the rubberbands tight enough and me and the kids stopped to get something to eat. I left the car running with the baby BP inside but when we got back she was GONE!... I immediately checked under the dash and saw her tail but as soon as I went to grab her she went further up and way out of reach. It was now 4pm EST and I only had like 30 minutes of daylight left. I wasn't sure what to do.

Luckily my brother-in law worked for GMC/Chevy and knew how to dismantle the dashboard. By 6:30pm the rescue was complete! But as you can imagine the baby was stressed! Not a great way to start off a new relationship.

She has been home for a few days now and remains a bitty hissy/nippy.

Should I completely leave her be for a while??? I am also setting up new Vision Cages on Friday and will have to move her AGAIN! Totally feel like this way too much too soon.

Thoughts from the community???

I would give her a couple days of rest. I had a 5 foot blood python get in the dash of my girlfriends car and she was very aggressive afterwards

Yea you should leave it alone for awhile to get settled in. Once settled in ad eating normally handling can be started for a few minutes at a time. Good luck and don't take it out in a car again.

Thanks guys! Figured as much.. Gonna try and feed on Sat. and get him set up in new tank. Hopefully he chills a bit.

She is a beautiful spider and it's good you found him! I had a similar problem with my adult normal male BP, Marcus. I left his cage lid open because breakfast was ready (stupid me! LOL) and he escaped. I found him stuck in the heater so I actually had to spray him with water to get him to move his head and unstick it from that part of the heater then turned off the lights so he would crawl out completely. Luckily it worked.

Thanks for the reply! My new tanks will have key locks!! Haha.... Really hoping the new spider calms down...... Definitely a lot of stress!
