I ordered a good quality probe kit and it came in the mail today. I was super excited and so I decided to check the sexes of three snakes that I have popped but was not confident with the result because they are older snakes that I was either given or rescued. I have watched the process several times and been taught how to do it. I successfully sexed two of them (both males), and while working on the third I noticed blood. I was being very careful, was using lube, and making sure to slowly insert the probe and allow it to slowly slide into the snake without force. I am now very concerned for the snake. The probe went in the length you would expect for a male. Has anyone else had this issue, and what was the outcome? I was careful to make sure the probe was not too big or small, and was not in any way sharp... any ideas? Oh it might also be important to note that the snake is in the blue stage of shed.
