Banded/Reduced pattern?
Hello all.
I wanted some advice from you pros as I am not sure if my girl can be considered as a morph or not.
She definitely does not look like the "regular" wild-type.
Here's the latest pic I have of her

Someone told me it is a "reduced pattern", I've been looking around and she does look like some banded/reduced pattern balls I've seen in the net.
I would appreciate if I can get some more opinions on this.

She looks ok for a normal, reduced pattern is an overly used term in the business right now. Reduced patterns aren't always genetic either. Your best bet is to try to see if she can prove out genetic.

I agree with Shewter. She *could* be a genetic banded, but you'd have to prove it out. A lot of breeders are throwing out normals and calling them "reduced" but a good chunk of them are just normals who throw normal babies. Proving her out is your best bet. Otherwise, she's just a pretty normal. Although it might be cool to put her with an enchi after that and see if she throws nice babies.

Thanks guys.
considering that I paid for her the same that normals cost here, I would be surprised if she'd really be a genetic reduced pattern.
I still don't have a male for her (and she still need to grow a bunch before she's even ready for breeding).
What would you guys recommend me to get for her? Just another normal, or maybe a pastel? If I've understand correctly the co-dominant gene thing, if I get a pastel, I should be getting 50% pastels at first try (presuming she's a normal). I that about correct?

Re: Banded/Reduced pattern?
Yes, with a pastel it'll be half pastel half normals. It depends on whether you want to prove her out or not. Pastel tends to throw some weird patterns, so you probably won't be able to tell if she is genetic or not, unless she throws normals that are banded. If you want to prove her out for sure, you could breed her with a normal male. But it's not very cost effective. Even genetic bandeds don't go for much. Might as well breed her to something that would do well with the bands. Enchi would be a good one, she doesn't have many alien heads, so she'd do well with a lesser or a butter. It really depends on what you want to do. If you want some pastels, then breed her to a pastel. Who knows, she might come out with some cool patterns.

Not a morph, but definitely reduced/banded. She will make some awesome looking morphs!
