November 2012 CONTEST WINNERS -- And an Important Word on Contests
First off, congrats to our November winners, and my sincere apologies for being so late in getting this announcement done! I'll shoot a PM to each of you about arrangements for the prizes that were offered for November's contests.
Ball Python of the Month -- DrDooLittle

Herp of the Month -- wendhend

Photo of the Month -- satomi325

An Important Word on Contests
Our original Ball Python of the Month contest started just over eight years ago. Herp of the Month came online a few months later. And we've been running the Photo of the Month for five and a half years. In all this time, the contests have run virtually seamlessly, with only one or two minor hiccups. But times change...and nowhere does it change faster than on the Internet.
Interest in the monthly photo contests has waned dramatically over the last year or two, and has now dropped off to critical levels. They're old and tired. I'm old and tired, too, and simply can't seem to muster the time it takes to keep interest up and keep them running smoothly and without undue delays.
It's time to give the contests a rest. We'll take a break from them for a few months, and I'll rotate some old, worthy contest winners through the homepage slots each month. After a break, we'll all take a fresh look and see if we want to return to the old contests...or find some way to revamp them and make them fresh and new.

DrDooLittle takes November's BPOM contest with his beautiful ball python, who seems to be peeking out shyly to see if he's won. Congrats!

I honestly don't know! Without knowing people personally, it's hard to tell sometimes. The storybook character was male, so that's how I always associated the name. I'll be sure to check (and correct as necessary!) when I PM them! Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea. I always look forward to the contests, but this last month there were so few entries that I expected something to happen. And I'm sure you'd welcome the break too

I will miss the contests as well. I always enjoyed looking at all of the pictures. There sure are a lot of beautiful animals among us.

Wow totally missed this memo I love the photo contests! It's a shame more people don't submit. I have a hard time remembering to submit before the deadline but I always participate in voting.
You will be missed photo contest..
