    First Litter

Decided to do some breeding on a small scale. I haven't quite been able to get my mice to produce a litter, but my rat had her 1st today. 10 healthy babies (1 isnt' visible in the pic.) Woot!

Love the little milk filled tummies clearly visible. Decided that Mom deserved a hard boiled egg treat!

Very cool. Not sure how much I'll breed, but it sure is fun. I haven't bread rodents since high school, and that was many moons ago. I'm definitely looking forward to paying more attention to genetics and will try to produce some pet-quality animals to sell on the side to deserving individuals. I know someone near me breeds Rexes... Might have to pick one up. =)

They make their own nests. It's good to give the mothers assorted material like paper and stuff because they like to feel secure.
