Picked up a 2012 Crested Gecko!

this is my first crested gecko. picked him up from a local vendor at the repticon show today. 2 months old. Cant wait for him to get bigger! these geckos just caught my eye and i like how they have eyelashes and along their back. I chose this gecko for its patterns

Spoke to the vendor for about 30 mins before picking this gecko up. Not sure on the sex yet because the vendor said its hard to sex them at such a young age. I also chose to go with the stub tail look because of my preference. The vendor was showing me different kinds and explaining how its natural to lose their tails due to stress or being bit off by other geckos. I plan on doing much more research about crested gecko but in the meantime just thought i would introduce it here. If you guys can help me out and maybe identify what breed or genetic this crested gecko is id appreciate it!

Congrats! Cresties are awesome. I have quite a few but I am really bad with morphs. If I had to guess I would say yours is a 95% pin harley. I'm not sure if they are called something else when they have the sides yours has.

It looks like it might be a halloween colored gecko (black and orange) but you don't really know until they get bigger because it takes time for their adult coloration to come in.

It is also pretty normal to see creaties with no or partial (stub) tails. I have several without tails and one or two with stub tails. Unlike most geckos, cresties don't store reserves in their tails so they don't grow back when lost. It's a one time defense mechanism.

Super cute! I love the cartoon-like contrast in the size of the body and size of the head.

If the board could help me clarify some questions id appreciate it! Thanks

    - Ive read and heard that cresties dont need a heat source. My room temperature stays around 70F - 74F.

    - Do cresties need a water dish? The vendor told me that spraying/misting down the cage would be good enough, and that he would just lick off the cage. (which ive seen)

    - How often am i suppose to be feeding him? I was given a powder formula to mix in with water, but i would prefer to feed crickets.

    - How many crickets per feeding? Do i just leave them in there? Do the number of feeding crickets grow as he matures?

    - Coco Husk bedding ok?

    - Branches and dead leaves in the cage ok?

    I love cresties!

I have a female and my mom has a male.

My female is a flame super dalmatian. Its very true about not knowing about morph until they grow up because my female barely had any spots when she was younger but now she is covered!

They are a great pet to have and a great introductory lizard to get into bigger lizard.
