Problem?
Hi Guys,
So I posted a thread a few days back with shipping questions in regards to getting a pied for my small collection. I have it down to four breeders. One has been writing me through emails since I first emailed him. Answers questions and concerns quickly. He has been breeding for three years now. Asking 700 with shipping.
The second one I spoke to back a few months about this pied actually. She is very friendly and answers questions with great details. She has been breeding for a few years now. Reviews are nothing but excellent. 750 with shipping.
Third is a bigger breeder who again has answered my questions, but doesn't seem to really want to work with me too much. Overall great guy with excellent reviews. 750 with shipping.
Fourth, is a guy who has good reviews and a bad review. The bad review was really the buyer trying to scam the seller. He has some really cool bright pied girls for 650 shipped. He is short with me though. Told me I have to have my deposit in by Saturday or he will sell all the rest to a whole seller. He won't send me additional information or pictures. I feel like I am bugging him and that he is in for the cash. =(
I guess my question is mainly, if you are seller wouldn't you want to answer all the questions, give extra information and pictures when asked? Especially if you are trying to make a sale before winter hits?
Anyone else have something like this happen before purchasing a new snake? I know the holidays can get to people but I really want a breeder to work with me especially regarding shipping as it will be my first shipped snake.
*On a side note, what other questions should I really be asking when shipping a snake? I have ask about returns, deposits (refundable), health guarantee, arrive-live guarantee, and then the basics, like what size food is she taking, etc. I want to make sure I am covering all the basics.

Big breeders are good because you know you're not going to get scammed, their reputation isn't worth screwing someone over $700. That being said, they can have a tendency to be short. Not rude, as that should never be excusable, but short/to the point. They have a lot of inquiries to shuffle through.
If all the animals are of equal quality, I would probably go with the most helpful person. The one who is taking the time to answer all of your questions and sending you more pictures.
The guy being short and threatening wholsaleing I would not do business with personally. That is just poor customer service and does not deserve to be reinforced by your dollar. The only reason I would go with a big breeder vs a small breeder is the quality of the animal. Whichever one had the snake that stood out would get my business.
This is just my train of thought: Quality > customer service > reputation > price. Though, as I said, if someone is flat out rude, they're not getting my business no matter how much I drool over their snake. (Its a pet peeve of mine)

Re: Problem?
I was actually kinda of pissed with the last guy who was going to do the whole sell. I just wasn't sure if I was taking it the wrong way, but I won't do business with him. Why should I pay for someone to be rude to me?

This ^ X2. I would wash my hands of the short guy and be done with him. If the animals are equal, I would go to the friendliest, most helpful person.

Re: Problem?
I think that is were I am stuck. Two are great. The one guy hasn't stopped emailing me since my first email. I am leaning towards him to be honest. He seems to be really friendly. We spoke about future breeding of his and our wishes/dreams for projects.
The pieds are all nice looking to me. I personally like medium whites. Two breeders have medium whites and the other has what I say is a higher white.

Re: Problem?
If the first guy is actually showing interest in YOUR breeding projects, to me, he's got some great customer service skills. He sounds like he knows his stuff and he's willing to work with you on your budget and with your breeding projects in mind! I would choose him first, then the second one. Even thought he second one has a great reputation, I think superior customer service trumps reputation (granted...this is not the case if the seller clearly has bad reviews).
It sounds like you know who you want to pick! Just be confident in your purchase. I'm sure the female you end up getting will be beautiful!

Re: Problem?
Thanks! The thing is the 1st breeder and the 2nd breeder, both pieds look a lot a like. The 2nd one seems a little darker though.
The 1st breeder has excellent customer service skills. I have been impressed and he even dropped his price for me. =) I think I will grab her up.

Re: Problem?
I will. I have other email me back with some more for sale but I really like this guy. The two breeders have been great. Hard to pick between the two. I am very excited! All the pictures he has sent me are were she is in shed. Hopefully tonight I get to see her not in shed but even in shed she was bright and alert.
Thanks
