How big is too big for males???

I have a male pied who is a proven breeder (not w me) that I acquired through a trade. When I got him he was huge looked female. Bigger than any female I have. He was over 2000 grams. Well I have since put him on a diet of 1 small rats every other week. He is slimming down at around 1650 grams as of today, but he still has no intrest in breeding. I know huge males get lazy and arent prolific breeders or so I have heard.

I have tried to put other male sheds w him and female sheds. Used sperm plugs rubbed from another male rubbed on his female NOTHING NO INTREST AT ALL!!!! Worst part is wants it. She wags her tail like crazy when he is introduced. Ive put him in her tub and her in his tub. Still nothing.

Paired them and misted like crazy still nope, paired when storms were comin through. Nothing

Any other tricks, tips, hints would be very much appreciated
