    One down.....

After getting the temps right, my baby was still not eating. I was just trying to wait him out but the other nite while cleaning his water dish, I let my daughter hold him a minute then I took him and put him back. When I got my hands on him I was shocked!! I could feel his spine!! From the side he looks like a tent.
Okay. I sorta panicked! I read the sticky on assist feeding then called my son and had him bring me a live pinky mouse.( I was afraid to try with something big). I offered it to Watson and he just ignored it. Did not even put his tongue out. So I assist fed him the pinkie. All went smoothly. I put him back in his tank and he swallowed it then cruised around. He seemed to be looking for more. I left him alone. The next day I decided to offer a f/t hopper. I know I was supposed to wait several days but he is so skinny. To my total shock he snatched that mouse after only 2 or 3 tongue flicks. He was soo fast !! He swallowed it quickly then took a cruise around his tank ( with a proud look on his face ) then went into his hide. I can't believe he finally ate. I bought an electronic scale today and he weighs 59g. This is of course after he ate the mouse. I am planning to wait 7 days and offer again. Is that about right? I am wondering if he had just never eaten before I got him and did not know what he was supposed to do. Is that possible? I'm not sure how old he is. About 14 inches long and 59gm. Does this sound okay?

I hope that is the end of the Dr.'s hunger strike. I have a picky eater too (adult) and have learned, for her, if she refuses at a week to wait until she follows my finger outside the cage like she is curious.

Most people offer their hatchlings every 4 to 5 days, I offer every 3 to 4 days.
You have to remember that when they are small they are genetically programed to do everything they can to grow fast so they wont get eaten.
If they are full they wont eat.
