Eating just before shedding

I can see my snake is going to shed soon. Is it true that they dont want to eat in this period so I should wait a week before trying?

I would still try. All mine eat even when they're in full blue. Just depends on the snake I think.

I would still offer on schedule.
Some snakes will take food when in shed, others will not.

Half of mine take food when in shed.

Yup, I would offer food. Some of mine eat in any stage of shed, even deep blue, some won't period. But you aren't going to hurt anything by offering, or if they eat.

Got to agree with everyone. Depends on the snake. Almost all of mine will eat in shed. It's pretty rare they skip a meal around my place I do live so if they don't eat, someone else will or it can go back in the rack. If you have just a few snakes and do F/T then perhaps you should skip so you don't waste a rodent.

The voice of caution here, just so you know, that there is a very remote chance that the shed can become stuck over the rodent 'bulge'. This has caused issues and in one case I know of severe issues beyond that again. To my mind there is nothing to be gained and this makes it a risk with no gain and not worth bothering with.

There is a member whom had this happen a few years ago.

I mention this so that you know that there is a slight chance of complications, you are able to make an informed decision. I would personally feel horrible if I knew this were a possibility and failed to mention it and you did have something go wrong.

If they f/t is aprox an exact match or slightly smaller than the girth would it still cause an issue when i previously owned and raised snakes I didnt have issues and didnt know that this was an issue like most others in this thread it was generally up to the snake if they would or wont eat in shed.
