Kind of a rescue...
So I am "borrowing" a friends baby bp hatchling because he was having issues getting her to eat. I got her settled into quarantine on tuesday. This girl is pretty skinny, backbone showing and a bit of skin folding. I assist fed her last night and she chomped it right down (mouse pinkie). I'm fighting the urge to keep feeding her since she's so skinny so I wanted some advice from you guys who have dealt with assist feeders. How often can I feed her until she starts to gain a few grams and I can switch her to a 5 day schedule? Have any of you fed every 2-3 days if the snake is very thin? Any advice is much appreciated!

Re: Kind of a rescue...
I had two that required assist feeding this year, and while thats all the experience I have, I will share it with you. Just getting some nutrition in them will go along way. Don't worry about rushing it. If its a baby you can easily go with rat fuzzies and it should be able to handle them. I would go with evey 5 days and let it get some meat back on it. It took me 8 times assisting them before they started eating on their own. Good luck

yes you can feed her every 2 to 3 days. remember when assist feeding you're giving her food that's a bit smaller than what she would take if she was feeding by herself. just watch her belly and make sure she poops. when they don't eat right away, they don't poop right away either. the urate can become hard in them causing a slight blockage. if this happens, gently rub down to the vent and watchout when they let loose. after they go the first time, usually they will be fine after that. good luck, if you have any more questions, let us know. don

Thanks for the quick responses! Much appreciated! I'm picking up some rat fuzzies this weekend so I can switch her to those.
