    Het pied markers.

I understand that het pied markers are in no way a definitive way to pick out hets but seeing all the pre-breeding-season commotion about hets has me remembering an old thought i had. When i first got my first ball python i got her from a local breeder. Theu said they were gonna raise her up but decided to sell her. She was around +-800 grams. Ive been looking at her and wondering what would make a "breeder " decide to raise up a normal girl? Now i could be getting caught up in the breeding fever but i think she shows some pretty good het markers (or what some believe are het markers).

My reasoning is that her origins and genetics were probably somewhat known as a possible het by the previous owner, hence the reason they contemplated raising her.

Overly optimistic or am i on to something here?

Yea i know that. I was thinking about getting a 100% het male for her but im not sure if i wanna waste her on a bunch of normals and hets. Any input on the markers? Do theu resemble what people are looking for?

Those are good markers. I've never seen the black line veer off into the white belly space before like that, that's kinda wacky....

They're good markers, but no, they're not definitive. My proven het lavender albinos also have het pied markers. On the female the markers were so strong, I worried for years that I'd been sold the wrong kind of het. But she's never produced any pieds, just a visual lavender albino. And all of her babies ALSO have "het pied markers".... So who knows what those "markers" mean.

Het markers look good. If she came from a reputable breeder, you should be good. Good luck

Thanks guys. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a pied but I might be willing to throw a male het with her to see how things go. At least to prove her out

Honestly, pieds are getting cheaper. Ive seen some around for $700. Just wait it out imo, I'd suggest breeding her to a visual.

I mean, theres a possibility that you may not hit a visual on the pairing for a year or two.
