He is quite fiesty, lol. He will be all "S"ed up and sitting upright like a cobra almost. He has such a bad additude. I am hoping he grows out of it. I haven't really handled him, but I guess I need to start doing that, lol.

They grow out of it pretty quick if you work with them.

    He's cute!

"S"ed up seems to be pretty normal for carpets. I just got my little guy at Tinley and he's very different from the other species I've worked with. You going to have to handle him if you want him to calm down. Mine is much smaller than yours and it gets pretty obvious when he starts to stress out, he starts to get super tense. Most of the time he seems "S"ed up. If you don't have one, I would recommend getting a snake hook soon. It will help you get him out.

yes, handle him. Mine was very feisty at first. In fact, she earned the name "meanie". When she was tiny i would just let her nip me but she eats like a pig and is growing fast so her btes can draw blood now. I went to gloves for handling, after a few sessions i would remove the gloves once she was calmed down a bit in my hands. It got to the point that i only had to put them on to pull her out of her viv. Now, the last time i did it glove free. She hasnt struck at me once for at least two months and hasnt struck once out of her viv for much longer than that. She is a year old and i have had her since the end of april. So it didnt take much time at all to calm her down. My 9 year old daughter is even comfortable with her now. Its pretty easy to tame them down, at least in my experience. Just have to put in the effort.

Your snake is a good looking little guy. I hope he calms down quickly for you, they are fun to handle. Good luck.

Thanks, I went ahead and put a glove on, lol, and use a hook to get him off his branch and got him gently on my hand with the glove on. He did pretty good once he was out, except for S'ing up and trying to get closer to my face, which I just gently used to hook to block his way and he would turn around and go back to crawling on my hand. I will start to pull him out a lot more to work with him. I have had him since he was 2 weeks old, hadn't even had his first meal yet, so now that he is a pig when it comes to food its time to handle him more, and me get over being a little nervous about being bit, lol.

Thats the best thing about gloves. At least for me anyway, more than anything it takes away the reaction to jerk away if they strike or head butt and so it doesnt make the snake as nervous and stressed with your own twitchy movements.
