Are Boas more 'active' than Ball Pythons?

When I see them in the pet stores they seem about the same to me as far as speed/activity level, but from experience what do you guys think? Are they just more fun all around or does it completely depend on the individual snake? I guess I'm curious why some people find them 'better' than BPs.

I find that they aren't super active in the cage, but it's when you're handling them that you see the difference. They're a lot more gregarious and curious than most ball pythons, which is why I would think a lot of people prefer them over balls as pets. They're really fun to handle and are still easy to take care of.

Yes, they don't do much in their tank. But are a lot of fun to handle. They are very outgoing, and curious. Also, they are content to hang out with you for hours. They just have an entirely different personality than bps. Most of my bps wouldn't enjoy riding around on my shoulders while I did laundry. My boa however, seems content there forever. They aren't head shy, (at least not mine) he also doesn't jump back from sudden movements, or get freaked out. It's just a different experience than a bp. I love my bps too though!

Thanks guys! I want one even more now! Gonna start preparing, collecting reference material and supplies. I already have a good setup that'll work for a baby RTB.

I like to walk around with my BP and she doesn't seem to mind, but I can't do too much with her or I worry that she'll fall off. She doesn't seem to understand the concept of gravity - if she begins to slip off something she won't hold on tighter, I have to catch her!

Ditto what everyone else said--our boa is always on the move, and never seems to want to go back into her bin. Seriously....for something with no arms and legs, BOY can she resist me!

My boas are way calmer than my pythons. My BRB will find a spot and just sit there. Red tails are the same. They move around for a bit and settle in. My BPs seem to always be on the move when I have them out.

I got both boas and BPs. Boas will hold your hand or shirt or hair tight when you handle them. They resist much more thann BP to going back into the cage or tub. Curious and cooperate more when you handle them. Generally, they don't refuse food and most likely to flex their muscle when you force them to do your way.

That must be so different from bps! Even my friendliest bp can get jumpy every once in awhile lol.

Same here, Kleo is very used to me and comfortable being carried around or napping in my hoodie. But if I touch her head by accident, boy does it annoy her!

Haha, that's what makes me a little hesitant about them! The only time I've been around an adult RTB was in a pet store. He wrapped the end of his tail onto a guy's ankle and even just that little part of the snake was so strong! What if they don't want to let go?
