A Word on Our Monthly Photo Contests

Late again! I know! I swear, I'm not trying to make this into a new tradition around here. They'll be going up in a few moments. The entries are scant this month...and I have only myself to blame for that, because I'm never around these days to encourage folks to get their pictures in. But it's all part of the ebb and flow of things. The contests have been going through a bumpy patch due to my hectic schedule, but they'll revive and continue as strong as ever.

I will be updating the contest rules today. The foundation rules will remain the same. I'm not really changing the rules themselves, but will be updating the procedures we go through to handle the contests. Today's reality does not match what our current list of "rules and procedures" say. Also, I'd like to make them easier to read and address a few issues that are constantly overlooked each month.

In the coming future, I'd like to start offering physical prizes as well. Probably not every month, but frequently enough to keep things interesting and fresh. Any month that prizes are offered, staff members will not be eligible to enter.

Any entries that were received after midnight of the 31st of October are still in the queue and will be saved for next month's contest...as they would have been if I'd gotten these up on time.

Alright...enough chattiness. I'll get on with it!

I just can't wait until it is January/February and I can take new pictures to submit. I second your vote for offering actual prizes. What did you have in mind?

LOL...coral glows, panda pieds, super GHIs...all on my list as potential prizes! ....lovely photographs of them, that is!

Nah...I'm not 100% sure yet. In addition to our own, awesome, t-shirts...there is a ton of really cool herp-related stuff out there. I have no doubt that I can find some neat stuff that will keep folks interested and intrigued!

I'll buy my own shirt, and when I start winning every contest once I'm home taking pictures I will turn down the shirt and deman a panda pied (coral glows suck, Mike)!

Jinx - excellent idea, sir! I would definitely do that and while here you can bring a nice camera to take pictures of any herps that you happen upon as I have done for the HOTM category, at least.

    Uh uh uhhhh....

BPOM and HOTM always have to be pictures of animals that you actually own. (Or owned at the time the picture was taken) From time to time, though, various POTM themes allow for entries of herps encountered in the wild.
