going to slam my head in to a wall...lol I need help/suggestions

I currently have six ball pythons. Four are housed together in a terrarium(sp? sorry)(not advisable I know) and two in QT. I am going to split the four that are housed together soon. I plan on putting them 40qt sterilite tubs, here is the rub; I am wanting to use flexwatt tape instead of individual UTH. The room that they are in now stays pretty warm 70's most of the year, Is the three inch flexwatt heat tape going to be big enough to heat the tubs and I read where adult ball pythons are suppose to be housed in no less that 20-30 gallons full maturity. I also plan on using a thermastat on the tape..the question I have is..is it bad (health wise) to have temperatures constantly changing ( i.e set it to 92 it drops 3-4 degrees and then bumps back up to 92) and has anyone used the BAH-1000DC thermostat ( pro's con's) or is there a better choice/ price. I know there are a million different opinions to this subject. Thank you so much for any help

It would be niced to have them in tanks but $$$ and space will not allow for that at this time, I understand and have been researching this for weeks now and I am not sure if this is a good plan or not. Thank you

First of all, I'm glad you're separating all the ball pythons. It's much better for their health.

Secondly, you can use flexwatt. i'd use the 11in though since you're going to be getting 41qt tubs. Also, I'd look at building a rack to put the tubs and flaxwatt on. It'll save space and look nice too! As for the temps, while I'm saving up for my herpstat, my rack is run on hydrofarms. They work decently and it's always +/- 2-3 degrees from where I set it. My ball pythons are still healthy and eating well so I don't think it makes too much of a difference.

its hard to think about seperating them because they lay together, like on huge ball (I know) putting human feelings to snakes.

When they do this, they are usually competing for the best spot, not snuggling. As far as your tubs, we use 11inch flexwatt and 41 qt tubs. For a thermostat, we use a Herpstat. Best thermostat you can get, imo.

on thermostats can you set specific temps for specific times like 9 am- 9pm 92 degress and 9pm-9 am 82 degrees or one constant temperature. I just want to do the best I can for my ball pythons.

I'm not sure if the basic herpstat will do that, but my herpstat 4 has a night drop feature, which can be used to increase temps at night.

Herpstats are on the expensive side, but they are worth it!

I do not lower the temps. Lower temps can allow for bacterial growth and respiratory infections. It's also not necessary. I leave my flexwatt at a constant 92*. Again, all my snakes have had no problems on this method.

Also, I agree that Herpstat is best! I'm saving up for a Herpstat 2 or 4 (I can't decide if I just want one herpstat 2 or two herpstat 4). However, while I'm saving, the Hydrofarms work well enough. I'll be using them as a backup for the Herpstats once I get them.
