    What kind of snake is this

    A friend of mine sent me a picture of a snake they saw in the woods in Texas. I'm not sure what it is. Can anyone ID it for me.

    I'm no expert, but it looks like a Texas Rat Snake.

    When I lived in TX my neighbors called them bull snakes and said not to kill them because they kept rattlers away. But they could have been pulling my leg.....

    Looks like a rat to me as well. Glad they took the picture and ran a lot of people would have killed it out of fear.
