When I first got my buddy he was all over his cage every night! He was basking on his log or drinking water... now I never see him outside of his hides! He changes hides.. so I know he's thermo-regulating himself but he never "hangs out" anymore. He still hasn't shed and his eyes were blue on saturday so could that be it? Or does his lack of leaving the hide just mean that he's settled in?

An impending shed could very well send him into hiding for a week or so. After his shed is completed, he may return to his normal activity level. Or he may not. He may be fully settled in and knows there is no food within his limited territory until you drop it in.

How long does it generally take from blue eyes to shed?

Yeah mine has a pretty set routine. Starting at feeding day, she'll eat, then retire to a hide of her choice to digest (usually the warm hide). Throughout the week, it seems she's in a different hide every time I check on her. I'll walk in the room, do some hw for an hour or so, and she'll be in another place hiding out. So I know she's moving around the cage, just being very quiet about it. In the nights before the next feeding day, she is basically out all night attempting to escape/or look for food. I basically feed her the day after I first notice her out at night. Basically, she makes the decision on when its time to eat.
